Background
Vinyāsa
Vinyāsa is a modern adaptation of Krishnamacharya´s yoga. In Sanskrit Vi means «Sequence» and Nyāsa means «Conscious Placement». Vinyāsa can be described as a breath-centric practice, which is creative but at the same time aligns a deliberate sequence of asanas to create a continuous flow. A Vinyāsa Flow will often be built up around «one breath to one movement». Further, challenging postures may be incorporated to create energy and heat in the body.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the sister-science of yoga and is a 5000 year old holistic healing modality from India. In Sanskrit Ayur means «Life» and Veda means «Knowledge». Ayurveda can therefore be described as the «Knowledge of Life». When looking at health, Ayurveda seeks to treat the root course of dis-ease and it covers all aspects of health and well-being from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Ayurveda can provide insight for the individual to create a balanced, healthy and harmonious life.
Nature
Nature can be understood in many different ways. Through studying a bachelor in Outdoor Education I have come to understand how important nature is for our health.
Surrounding and emerging ourselves in nature - a forest, the ocean, the mountains, relaxes our nervous system and plays an integral part in our life. Modern day´s urbanised society can to some extent be described as disconnected from nature.
Ayurveda helps us to understand the language of nature, and can therefore help us live in harmony with nature so we can uplift our societies and the world we live in.
